Dear Students and Colleagues,

Welcome to the first issue of  Brain Waves: the Newsletter of the Neuroscience gradaute program (aka MiNDS).  My name is Ryan Van Lieshout and I am the Associate Director of MiNDS. A number of very talented young people from our program and I hope to use this forum to inform, stimulate, and even entertain.  This newsletter was developed to help MiNDS students and faculty become more familiar with our program and the individuals that comprise it. In particular, we hope to:

a) Inform you of program processes, progress, and deadlines AND

b) Help you get to know our faculty and students along with their work and interests

Brain Waves will be emailed to you every other month and provide you with summaries of recent program events, profile program students and faculty, and highlight the very exciting work taking place in our program.

As this is your newsletter, we hope that you will let us know how we’re doing (and if there is anything that we’re not providing with that you’d like to see). Of course, if anyone is interested in being profiled or having their work featured in the newsletter, please do not hesitate to contact editor, Mary Sourial (souriam@mcmaster.ca), or myself (vanlierj@mcmaster.ca), and we’ll arrange that for you.

On behalf of the Brain Waves Staff, we hope that you enjoy the newsletter as much as we’ve enjoyed putting it together!

Ryan
